A fully black character window, or a process that vanishes as soon as it starts, is the case the v1.19.0 notes tie to laptops with two GPUs. It is also easy to confuse with the first-launch unpack, which can sit there for up to half a minute. Click the exe once and wait before you decide it died.
Turn graphics acceleration off
Settings, About, Troubleshooting, then the switch that disables graphics acceleration. The guide says the character and the bubbles still draw after that. From v1.19.0, a window that keeps hanging offers a restart in safe mode. Safe mode leaves acceleration off. Turning acceleration back on leaves safe mode.
Other programs injecting into the exe
Antivirus suites and some banking tools inject into new executables and produce the same black window. Add BUG-Clicker.exe to that product’s exception list. I am not naming a vendor, because the guide does not.
A broadcast background set to black is a color choice for capture, not this fault. If the pet is visible and only the backdrop is black, you are on the OBS page. If the window is black and the pet is gone, stay here.
Still black: build the report archive. The guide says it includes version, Windows details, the error log, character count, memory, and CPU. Send the developer’s form. No public path to a crash file is documented, so I am not inventing one.
Questions
Will disabling acceleration hide the pet?
The guide says the character and the bubbles remain. Acceleration is the extra path being switched off.
I clicked five times and nothing stayed open.
The first unpack can take about 30 seconds. Extra clicks do not help and can look like a crash loop.
