This policy matches what the pages load on 3 November 2026. Cookie settings in the footer reopens the choice bar.
Loaded by default, stopped by Reject
Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra are requested on the first page view, before any click. The cookie bar is a notice with a withdrawal, not a gate. If this browser holds no choice yet, we record granted and show the bar. Reject records denied, removes the tags on that page and reloads so nothing from those three vendors stays loaded, and the denial is kept for 180 days. Accept keeps them on. Global Privacy Control (GPC) is treated as Reject: we record denied and do not wait for a click. A bare Do Not Track flag without GPC does not change the record by itself, because browsers disagree on what that flag means. You can change the choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer, and the change takes effect on the next page view.
Keys we store in this browser
bugclicker_consent holds the choice (granted or denied), the timestamp and an expiry 180 days out. It is our own localStorage record, not a cookie, and it is the only record we write about the choice. bugclicker_ad_float_closed holds the time you closed the Adsterra Social Bar, also for 180 days, so the bar does not return on the next page load. Clearing site data in the browser removes both and the bar asks again.
Google Analytics 4
Measurement ID G-DGP0JS5JBZ, property 562119867, operated by Google LLC (USA). It sets the _ga cookie (up to 2 years) and the _ga_DGP0JS5JBZ cookie (up to 2 years) to distinguish browsers and retain session state. These are Google’s documented default lifetimes, which browser rules may shorten. It receives the page URL, the referrer, a coarse location derived from the IP address, device and browser details, and interaction events such as scrolls and outbound clicks. IP addresses are not logged by GA4. GA4 retention depends on the property’s configuration; this public review does not establish the current account setting, so no property-specific retention period is asserted. Our loader uses the browser choice in bugclicker_consent; the initial request happens by default and Reject stops later loading. Google's opt-out add-on is at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout and the privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Microsoft Clarity
Project z7tpjmgd55, operated by Microsoft Corporation (USA). Clarity records heatmaps and session replays of clicks, scrolls and page layout, and sets the _clck cookie (up to 1 year), the _clsk cookie (up to 1 day) and, where Microsoft already knows the browser, the MUID cookie (up to 1 year). Clarity documents masking controls for sensitive content. This site does not provide a text-entry form for the replay to capture. Vendor retention and masking behavior follow the linked Clarity documentation rather than an independently audited guarantee. Our loader uses the browser choice in bugclicker_consent; the initial request happens by default and Reject stops later loading. Microsoft's privacy statement is at https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement and Clarity's data handling notes at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/clarity/faq.
Adsterra
Publisher ID 3403020, website 6171921, operated by Adsterra (Adsterra Network Ltd.). Two formats are installed: NativeBanner_1 (unit 32069569) inside the article flow and SocialBar_1 (unit 32069570) as the fixed bar at the bottom. Adult ads are switched off for this site. The Adsterra tags load from bicea.org and may set cookies and local storage under that domain and the creative domains they call, used for impression frequency, fraud prevention and measuring a click. The exact names are chosen by Adsterra and can change without notice; we do not write them ourselves. Adsterra receives the page URL, the referring page, the browser and device, a coarse location derived from the IP address, and the ad unit that was requested. Its retention follows Adsterra's own policy. Our loader uses the browser choice in bugclicker_consent; the initial request happens by default and Reject stops later loading. Adsterra's privacy policy is at https://adsterra.com/privacy-policy/.
You can limit personalized advertising at https://adssettings.google.com/, https://optout.aboutads.info/ and, in the EEA and UK, https://www.youronlinechoices.com/. Those links are run by industry bodies, not by us, and they do not stop ads from appearing; they stop a profile being built for them. Adsterra's own opt-out and contact routes are on its privacy page.
YouTube
A video card is ours: the thumbnail is stored on our host and no YouTube request is made when the page opens. Pressing Play creates the youtube.com iframe and the YouTube player may then set its own cookies and receive the request under Google's terms; the player request is triggered by that click. Closing the page ends it. YouTube's privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Mail to [email protected] is read so we can answer. We keep the thread while the correction or takedown is open, then delete it. The legal basis is the message you sent. We do not add the address to a marketing list.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold, ask for a correction, ask for deletion, or object. Email [email protected]. You can also clear bugclicker_consent and bugclicker_ad_float_closed in the browser yourself, and use the opt-out links above for the vendors. If you are in the EEA or UK you may complain to your local authority. We are not the controller of Google, Microsoft, Adsterra, YouTube, GitHub, or the developer's form.
We will change this page when the scripts change, and the date under the badge will move with it.
Questions
Do you sell data?
No. Adsterra is the only ad network on the site and we do not hand it an audience list of our own.
How do I turn analytics and ads off?
Press Reject in the cookie bar, or reopen it with Cookie settings in the footer. The denial is remembered for 180 days and the tags are removed on the next page view.
Which cookies does the site itself set?
None. We write two localStorage keys, bugclicker_consent and bugclicker_ad_float_closed. The cookies listed above come from Google, Microsoft and Adsterra.
