Install BUG Clicker on Windows 10 or 11

The Windows README asks for Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The file to save is BUG-Clicker.exe from the v1.19.0 release on 1 November 2026. It is 107.8 MiB. That release’s exe had been downloaded 13,522 times when I checked on 3 November 2026. There is no installer wizard.

Keep the download

Chrome may say BUG-Clicker.exe is not commonly downloaded. Open the extra menu, choose Keep, then Show more, then Keep anyway. That prompt is the browser talking about a new file name, not a verdict from the developer.

First launch and SmartScreen

  1. Double-click the exe once. The first start unpacks for about 30 seconds. Clicking again does not speed that up.
  2. If SmartScreen says it prevented an unrecognized app from starting, the publisher line reads Unknown publisher. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
  3. The first window shows credits and a short guide. The character sits at the lower right, and a tray icon stays behind.

Unknown publisher means the exe is not code-signed. The public Windows repository contains a README and release binaries, not a source tree you can compile yourself. I do not treat the SmartScreen text as proof of malware, and I also do not treat it as a clean bill. See the safety page for the split.

The data folder has to travel with the exe

Characters and settings live in a folder named BUG Clicker 데이터 next to the exe. The middle word is Korean for “data”. If you move only the exe, the pet starts empty. Settings, then Customize, then Open folder, shows that directory. Updates, once enabled, check about every 6 hours, download ahead, and apply on the next launch. If a new build fails to start, the app rolls back.

Removing it

There is no uninstaller. Removing the program means deleting the exe and that data folder. I am describing the absence of an installer, not an official uninstall command.

Questions

Does Windows 7 work?

Only a pre-release named BUG-Clicker-Win7.exe, tagged win7 and based on 1.18.1, dated 24 October 2026. It is not described as a supported build.

Where are my characters stored?

In the folder BUG Clicker 데이터 beside the exe. Move that folder together with the exe.
