A BUG Clicker character is three pictures. The canvas the guide recommends is 800 by 800. Other sizes are scaled and sat on the bottom center, so 800 is a suggestion with a defined fallback, not a hard reject. Open the editor from the tray, Customize, Character Studio, or from the character’s own settings.
The three pictures that must exist
- body — the torso and legs. This layer does not squash while the character is held down.
- head1 — the resting face.
- head2 — the face while the character is being pressed.
Name the layer groups body, head1, and head2. On import, groups with those names land in the matching slots. You can Load PSD, Add PNG, or drop a file on the stage. Optional art: head3 for a blink, a back-hair layer, a side-hair layer, and extra images. The guide does not state a maximum image count or a maximum file weight, so I am not inventing one.
What happens when someone clicks
The press action has a depth, a hold time, and a squash amount, and you can enable only one of those. The press sound is a short list (click, tap, pop, and others) or your own wav or mp3, with a preview button. Head pets are off until you enable them under actions. The pet effect draws at the sides of the head. Starting display size is under Image, Desktop, starting size, and that number is written into the .cvclk so the next person sees the same scale.
Ears, a tail, wings, and a prop are separate from these three pictures. They have their own page because the bone tool and the guide PNGs are a different job than painting the body.
Questions
Can I commission someone to draw this?
The developer FAQ says art made on this template can be commissioned, and personal merch is allowed if you credit BUG Clicker. Commercial merch needs a separate ask.
Does the pet have to be a bug?
No. The default mark is a bug. Characters people share are people, animals, and original drawings.
